TEMPORARY VISAS

Temporary Visa.jpeg

A citizen of a foreign country who wishes to enter the United States must first obtain a visa. If their visit is for a limited time or purpose, they will need a nonimmigrant visa for a temporary stay. There are 2 main temporary visas: for business and as a visitor.

Temporary Business Visa

If you or a possible business partner have to come to the United States temporarily for business, a temporary visa will be necessary to enter the United States. A temporary business visa is generally used when:

  • A person has to consult with business associates

  • An individual has to attend a scientific, educational, professional, or business convention or conference

  • A person has to enter the United States to settle an estate or inheritance

  • A person needs to negotiate a contract.

The purpose of this limited time visa is to enter the United States temporarily for business.

Temporary Visitors Visa

If you have family members or friends who want to visit you in the United States, there are visitor visas that they could obtain. If you are unsure if they may be able to get a visa, SFR Law Corporation can help you to decide which temporary visa is more likely to be approved, and will guide you through the process to successfully obtain a temporary visa for your loved ones, so they can visit you in America.

A visitor visa for friends and family can be obtained for:

  • Tourism

  • Visit with friends or relatives

  • Medical treatment

  • Participation in social events hosted by fraternal, social, or service organizations

  • Participation by amateurs in musical, sports, or similar events or contests, if not being paid for participating

  • Enrollment in a short recreational course of study, not for credit toward a degree (for example, a two-day cooking class while on vacation)

To obtain a temporary visa to enter the United States the applicant must rebut the presumption that he or she is intending to remain in the US by showing that they plan to remain in the United States for a specific, limited period. This showing can be made by submitting the proper evidence to the American Embassy or Consulate.

SFR Law Corporation is here to guide you through the process and help you to choose and submit the proper evidence, so you can overcome negative presumptions in a relaxed and comfortable manner.

What if my circumstances change while I am in the U.S.?

A temporary visa will allow you to stay in the United States only for a limited period of time and for a specific reason. We understand that life goes on, and once in the United States your situation may change, so to not fall within the category of “Undocumented Alien” you may extend your visa while in the United States or Change your status.

For example, if you find love while in the United States and you marry a U.S. citizen; or you make an impact in someone and receive a job offer, you may be able to request a change in your nonimmigrant status to another category. SFR will be happy to guide you in this new chapter in your travels and life and will be here each step of the way to help you achieve your dreams.
